It appears the city parks department, over the course of the summer has decided to stop watering several grass areas in Jeffery Fontana Park. 90% of the main turf area between the bridge and McAbee Rd & Golden Oak is dead grass, crab grass or weeds.
Also the grass area from McAbee along Golden Oak to the Dog Park is again mostly dead grass & weeds. Can someone tell me why the Parks Dept is pursuing this strategy ? I understand the city is trying to save water. But, the long term cost to replace this grass will be much more than maintaining it. I know the water infrastructure in these parks is in need of a major overhaul. I get that. But, the city has to find a way to keep these grass areas alive and not become big patches of weeds.
